Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then found multiple other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
A senior official commented the vandalism made him speechless and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
